About Us

The Jefferson Elementary School District, founded in 1866, serves approximately 5,000 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students from four contiguous areas in San Mateo County - the city of Daly City, the Town of Colma, unincorporated Broadmoor Village, and a small section of the city of Pacifica. The population of the four communities has a wide socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural diversity. The community is situated close to the City of San Francisco, the Bay, the Pacific Ocean, and San Bruno Mountain. More than 20 languages are represented, making the District truly international.

The District presently employs 30 certificated office and site administrators, 300 teachers and pupil services staff, and approximately 300 classified employees. The Administration is comprised of experienced and professional people, and the Governing Board is supportive of the educational process.

The District believes in family involvement. Every school maintains an active PTA and a School Site Council. The District also supports several district level parent groups, including a Parent Involvement Advisory Committee.
